Let’s clear something up: good email is not just pretty fonts, random emojis, and yelling “Buy Now!” in bold.

That’s how you get unsubscribed faster than a toddler in a sugar crash.

An effective email—the kind that gets opened, clicked, and actually does something—is a different beast. It’s a combo of psychology, strategy, and just the right amount of charm.

Here’s what really makes the magic happen:

  • Subject Lines That Flirt, Not Shout
If your subject line sounds like spam from 2006, it's going straight to trash. Great subject lines tease, intrigue, or make people say, “Okay, I have to see what’s inside.”

  • Copy That Sounds Human (Not Like a Fax Machine from Corporate)
Your readers are people. Talk to them like one. Entertain them, make them nod, maybe even chuckle. Then slide in your offer like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

  • A Clear, Irresistible CTA
“Click here” is fine. But “Steal the free cheat sheet” or “Book your spot before it’s gone” is chef’s kiss. The CTA should feel like the obvious next move—not a chore.

  • A Dash of Strategy, a Pinch of Timing
Sending a midnight promo to accountants during tax season? Maybe not your best move. Good emails land at the right time with the right message—because they were planned that way.

  • Design That Doesn’t Burn Eyeballs
Keep it clean. Keep it mobile-friendly. No need for 14 fonts and glitter GIFs. Just give your words a nice stage to perform on.

Bottom line? Good email isn’t about shouting into the void. It’s about showing up with the right message, at the right time, in a way that makes people say, “Wow, that was actually worth reading.”

Want emails that do that? Let’s chat. I write them.
